OVERVIEW

Prism Defence specialises in ship–air integration and innovative solutions that support the development and management of Ship–Helicopter Operating Limits (SHOL).

At Prism Defence, we work with defence forces across the world to conduct flight tests in the harshest maritime environments to prove and enable the embarked aviation capability of the defence forces. Limits defined by Prism Defence give operators the confidence to fly helicopters and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) from ships at sea when and where required.

MISSION STATEMENT

At Prism Defence, our mission is to:

  • Define and deliver best practice in ship–air integration for our customers.

  • Use our expertise to develop leading-edge systems that are innovative, reliable and cost‑effective.

  • Provide an exceptional level of subject matter expertise that our customers value and trust.

OUR OFFERING

Prism Defence offers a range of software products and services to support ship–air integration across four focal areas:

  • Design and analysis
  • Trials and reporting
  • Management and assurance
  • Consultancy and training

Our Customers

At Prism Defence, we are proud to support defence forces across the world and industry clients through our assured, comprehensive and proven ship–air integration capability that enables the safe and effective operation of helicopters and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) at sea.

First of class flight trials are Prism Defence’s core activity. We design, build and install flight test instrumentation for the aircraft and ship.

Our software systems, designed and developed in-house, enable maximum use of the available ship–aircraft time to deliver comprehensive Ship–Helicopter Operating Limits (SHOL).

Our flight test teams have considerable experience across a wide range of aircraft types, and the flight test teams operate around the world. Your flight test personnel can also use our systems.

Prism Defence provides independent operational and technical advice to ship integrators, designers and builders. We can directly support your bid or development team, or provide third-party assurance for your customer. We also provide assessment and advice to the end-user on offered proposals.

Training is key to operational effectiveness. Prism Defence can work directly with the front-line customer or with capability provision partners to provide a full aviation training suite.

We offer training for:
  • Pilots, including flight operations to the deck by day, by night and with night vision devices
  • Bridge teams, including Command and Officer of the Watch
  • Flight deck crews
  • Air controllers
  • Whole ship aviation emergency training

Prism Defence can provide training needs analysis, bespoke helicopter operations manuals and long-term training support.
